Ziegler Cove State Marine Park

The fjords and bays of Alaska's Prince William Sound provide the setting for Ziegler Cove State Marine Park. What the park lacks in developed amenities it more than makes up for in opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, hunting and camping. The park provides much appeal for lovers of the outdoors.
Location
Located 18 miles from Whittier, near Alaska's southern coast, the park occupies the northern side of the mouth of Pigot Bay. It is easiest to reach the park by boat. Up to four boats can anchor in Ziegler Cove at one time.
Accommodations
The park has two developed areas: a single campsite in the northern corner of the cove near the forest, and a picnic site with a fire ring in the eastern corner of the cove above the beach. Experienced campers can make their own campsites in the park as well. Drinking water is available further west in Pigot Bay.
Activities
Outdoor activities attract the most visitors to the park. Ziegler Cove and Pigot Bay provide excellent opportunities for kayaking, boating and fishing. The spruce and alder forests provide ample space for hiking, but there are no developed trails within the park. Hunting is permitted in the park in accordance with Alaska state regulations that govern which species and weapons are in season.
Ziegler Cove State Marine Park is a fine choice for outdoors lovers wishing to explore the natural beauty of Prince William Sound. The park provides many options for a satisfying visit to one of the last truly wild areas of the United States.
