Point Bridget State Park

Alaska is a large and varied land with many different places to explore. Point Bridget State Park is one of those places, and it is located in the southeast portion of the state. Southeast Alaska forms a panhandle with Canada bordering it to the east and the Gulf Of Alaska bordering it to the west. This portion of Alaska is more mild in its temperature than other points further north, and it is also much wetter. Point Bridget State Park is 40 miles north of Juneau, the capital city of Alaska and it is a great park to visit.

Point Bridget State Park is 2,850 acres large so there is plenty of space to play. During the winter, skiing and snowshoeing are very popular due to the park's open forests and meadows. Once the snow melts, it is time to get out your hiking boots and enjoy walking through this beautiful landscape. Just make sure to bring a rain jacket because there is a very good chance it will rain on any given day.

The history of the park

While you are enjoying looking at this park's scenic cliffs and rocky beaches, you should also take a moment to reflect on those who have come before you. Long before this area was a state park, it was the summer home of Auks, a group of Alaskan Indians. The Auks would use the area for harvesting some of its rich natural resources such as salmon.
