Oliver Inlet State Marine Park

Oliver Inlet State Marine Park is located 12 miles south of Juneau, between Seymour Canal and Stephens Passage in Southeast Alaska, United States of America. It is 560 acres in size, and is famous for wildlife viewing and fishing activities. The park comes under the Admiralty Island National Monument and Federal Wilderness Area. Oliver Inlet provides access to the Seymour Canal and portions of the national monument.

Fauna present at Oliver Inlet State Marine Park

There is a wide variety in the species of animals, both land and aquatic animals, present in Oliver Inlet State Marine Park. Some of the more well-known species are the humpback and killer whales. You may also spot some very vibrant seals, sea lions and porpoises in the waters. As far as terrestrial species of animals are concerned, there are a number of Sitka deer and brown bear found within the area. Seymour Canal is also quite famous for having the greatest known numbers of nesting bald eagles in the world. Other species noted are the trumpeter, whistling swans and other migrating waterfowl.

The temperature in this region averages between 55 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer. Spring is possibly the best season to visit Oliver Inlet State Marine Park. The park is also characterized by high average rainfall and high humidity all around. Therefore, the ecosystem is mostly accustomed to a hot and wet environment. There are unpredictable changes in the weather.
