Horseshoe Bay State Marine Park

Horseshoe Bay State Marine Park is one of the most interesting parks to visit in the Prince William Sound area of Alaska and the only remaining Marine park in the immediate area. Visitors can experience the Alaskan wild and learn about the region's history, all in one visit.

The mines

There are several mine plots located within the park. Some are active and others are historic. Guests can take guided tours through these mines during their visit. The old town of Latouche, which was inhabited by miners at one point, is also accessible from the park and a popular tourist attraction.

Camping

Those who wish to spend several days in the area can take advantage of the campsites along the rolling bog to the north of the bay. These sites offer a great view of the Prince William Sound. Campers can also view numerous plant and animal species. Stunted spruce trees compose much of the forest, and moose are commonly spotted here.

Water-related activities

Boating is permitted at the park, but only during daylight hours. Fishing is also a common pastime. However, the park does request that all visitors follow the standard Alaskan regulations for fishing. Another common activity in this park is sea kayaking. Most kayakers stick to the area around Horseshoe Bay and only enter the water during the warmer months.
