Beecher Pass State Marine Park

Located in the Tongass National Forest of Alaska, Beecher Pass State Marine Park is a destination you do not want to pass up. This unique park allows visitors to experience the rugged forest of Alaska and the beautiful coast at the same time. The park is located to the west of Wrangell with no direct road access. It is largely undeveloped and the perfect destination if you have a real sense of the outdoors.
Park features
Beecher Pass State Marine Park consists of several small islands. The local population frequents the park, and uses it primarily for fishing purposes. Fish do abound in the surrounding waters and are easy to catch. The area is protected as a part of the Tongass National Forest. The park is rather undeveloped and does not offer restrooms or other facilities for visitors. If you plan on visiting from outside the area, expect to rough it.
Beach camping
People from remote areas who visit the park do have the option of camping on the beach. This is a truly unique setting to spend the night, and only recommended if you have camping experience. The beach has a medium slope and is a mixture of sand and gravel. Staking a tent is challenging in this terrain. In case of emergency, the Beecher Pass Forest Service Cabin is located 1.6 miles from the tent site, which has room for only one tent and is 8 feet by 6 feet. Water is not provided, so pack enough for your stay.
A stay at Beecher Pass State Marine Park can provide a great opportunity for adventure for an experienced camper. Fishing and hiking abound at this secluded Alaskan park.
